Traces that share a correlation or a session become one ordered path. You can rename a journey. You do not draw it first.
The builder walks the spans. Outbound calls to hosts this estate does not run are named, and when they cause the wait they are flagged. On the planted checkout the picture names Apigee, a service, Kafka, Postgres, and Stripe. Stripe is the fault.
Edges carry a sync mark. Messaging, including the Kafka hop, is async. The other calls on that path stay sync.
